A 29-year-old software engineer working at an infotech company in Bengaluru has lodged a police complaint alleging he was cheated of Rs 48 lakh by a self-proclaimed healer and an Ayurvedic shop owner in Yeshwanthpur.<\/p>\n
According to the FIR filed under the 100 Feet Road, KLE Law College police limits, the victim had approached an Ayurvedic stall offering \u201cquick remedies\u201d for a sexual health disorder.<\/p>\n
There, he was introduced to a man identified as Vinay Guruji, who allegedly convinced him to buy rare herbs called \u201cDevaraj Booti\u201d and \u201cRasa Booti.\u201d<\/p>\n
The substances were priced between Rs 1.6 lakh and Rs 2.6 lakh per gram, with Guruji claiming they were sourced from Haridwar and would \u201cguarantee a cure.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The engineer reportedly purchased the substances in bulk from Vijayalakshmi Ayurvedic Shop, paying entirely in cash as instructed.<\/p>\n
To meet the escalating costs, he withdrew his savings, borrowed from friends, and took loans. Despite spending Rs 48 lakh, his health worsened, and medical tests later indicated kidney damage.<\/p>\n
When the victim confronted the accused, Guruji allegedly threatened him, warning that halting the treatment would \u201cput his life at risk\u201d and demanding further payments.<\/p>\n
Police have registered a case for cheating and other relevant offences. Vinay Guruji is currently absconding, and investigations are underway.<\/p>\n
