I think very highly of them both on personal and professional levels. It’s just the reality that the club needs different things today than it did six months ago.

“We’ve already started the hiring process and hope to have appointments soon, but we will prioritise quality and fit over speed.”

Not only did Cavanagh refuse to slate either of the two, the Rangers chairman also made an appearance on Sky Sports explaining and apologising to supporters whilst Celtic’s CEO remains silent and the club’s largest shareholder seems intent on attacking the Celtic support.

Poll: Do you have faith in the Celtic board?

“I want to reassure our supporters that Danny will continue to have all the support that he needs. In the interim, Fraser Thornton, our director, will be assuming the duties as acting CEO.

“Change like this is always painful, especially when it involves people we care about. But at the same time, we’re very excited about this opportunity to bring in fresh leadership to this great club. We appreciate everyone’s continued support.”

Where is Celtic’s next manager?

It’s been four weeks since Brendan Rodgers resigned and Celtic are still continuing with interim duo Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney.

According to reports this morning, Celtic will appoint Wilfried Nancy on the 1st of December.

The Frenchman is said to be bringing in four of his own staff as he looks to start a new era at Celtic.

Hopefully, this will happen sooner so that Celtic can move on as a club to leave this whole sorry episode behind.

  Join Our Newsletter

Receive a digest of our best Celtic content each week direct to your mailbox

Celtic and Rangers are going through a bizarre period at both clubs right now.
