<\/a>Trump signs executive order directing inquiry into Muslim Brotherhood as a \u2018foreign terrorist organization\u2019 <\/p>\n

President Donald Trump signed an executive order<\/a> Monday afternoon that will direct the Secretary of State and Treasury Secretary to determine if certain chapters of the Muslim Brotherhood, a transnational Sunni Islamist organization, should be a \u201cForeign Terrorist Organization.\u201d<\/p>\n

The order appears to be rooted in concerns of certain chapters or members of the Muslim Brotherhood providing Hamas support to attack civilian and military targets within Israel.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Trump is confronting the Muslim Brotherhood\u2019s transnational network, which fuels terrorism and destabilization campaigns against U.S. interests and allies in the Middle East,\u201d the executive order says<\/p>\n

When asked about New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani standing by his insults that Trump is a \u201cfascist\u201d and \u201cdespot,\u201d White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said \u201cTalk is cheap.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think talk is cheap, and I think that the president is going to judge Mamdani by his actions that he takes in New York,\u201d Leavitt told reporters outside of the White House Monday afternoon. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe meeting was positive, as you heard from the president last week, and I think that the fact that the president is willing to meet with somebody who said those types of things about him shows that he really is interested in being a president for all Americans, regardless of where they live or who their leader is.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/a>White House vows to appeal judge\u2019s dismissal of indictment against Comey <\/p>\n

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Monday the administration plans to appeal the judge\u2019s decision dismissing the indictment against former FBI Director James Comey<\/p>\n

Appearing on Fox News, Leavitt purported that \u201ceverybody knows that James Comey lied to Congress, it\u2019s clear as day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leavitt accused the judge who deemed interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan\u2019s appointment unlawful of shielding Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James from responsibility over a \u201ctechnicality.\u201d<\/p>\n

The White House press secretary claimed Halligan, who has no prosecutorial experience, is \u201cextremely qualified\u201d for her position. <\/p>\n

Former FBI Director James Comey said the dismissal of the criminal indictment against him is \u201ca reflection of what the Justice Department has become under Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a video statement released Monday<\/a>, Comey said the case against him was brought with \u201cincompetence\u201d and was grateful for the judge dismissing the indictment. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis case mattered to me, personally, obviously. But it matters most because a message has to be sent that the president of the United States cannot use the Justice Department to target his political enemies,\u201d Comey said. <\/p>\n

The former FBI director said Trump was likely to come after him again, but that he would continue to stand up to the president. <\/p>\n

Senator Mark Kelly said he would not be intimidated by the Trump administration after the Defense Department announced it had opened an inquiry into his alleged misconduct. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf this is meant to intimidate me and other members of Congress from doing our jobs and holding this administration accountable, it won\u2019t work,\u201d Kelly wrote on X. <\/a>\u201cI\u2019ve given too much to this country to be silenced by bullies who care more about their own power than protecting the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a lengthy X post, Kelly said he only learned of the military\u2019s investigation after seeing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth\u2019s post.<\/p>\n

Kelly, a retired naval officer, said he was commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy at 22 years old and \u201cupheld that oath\u201d every day since retiring. <\/p>\n

Senator Mark Kelly, a retired naval officer, is the only one of the five Democrats who appeared in a video addressed to active service members last week that falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense, Secretary Pete Hegseth said Monday. <\/a><\/p>\n

After enraging the president by appearing in a video that encouraged active military service members to ignore orders that violate the Constitution, the Defense Department opened an inquiry into Kelly to determine if he violated any rules. <\/p>\n

\u201cFive of the six individuals in that video do not fall under @DeptofWar jurisdiction (one is CIA and four are former military but not \u2018retired,\u2019 so they are no longer subject to UCMJ). However, Mark Kelly (retired Navy Commander) is still subject to UCMJ\u2014and he knows that,\u201d Hegseth wrote. <\/p>\n
