Seacombe, central <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/birkenhead\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Birkenhead<\/a>, and the Woodchurch Estate have each been promised up to \u00a320m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The Pride in Place programme was announced by the UK Government earlier this year with nearly 250 areas <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/three-ignored-areas-merseyside-share-31836084\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">promised \u00a320m over 10 years<\/a> to invest in their local communities. Unlike a lot of funds which go through authorities like local councils, the government said <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/three-wirral-areas-60m-people-32553141\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">communities will decide where this money goes up until 2037.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">On the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/wirral\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Wirral<\/a>, three areas are set to get millions each. The government said this could include improvements to pavements and high streets to investment in culture and green spaces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Boards will be set up in each neighbourhood promising to put \u201clocal people at the centre of defining their area\u2019s future\u201d with a vision and a road map to deliver the \u00a320m. While <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/wirral-council\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Wirral Council<\/a> will not be in charge of the funds, the local authority is hoping any programme will line up with their regeneration plans for the borough.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">A motion has been put forward by Wirral\u2019s Labour group welcoming the investment by the UK Government. If supported by at least seven votes from other parties, the motion will see the council look to provide support and outline how the council will respond and \u201cpositively work together to exploit the opportunities presented by the scheme.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The call, put forward by Wirral Council\u2019s Labour leader and deputy leader Cllrs Paula Basnett and Julie McManus, said the investment will \u201cget resources into some of the country\u2019s most deprived communities\u201d and give people \u201ca greater say in how funding is spent and how their areas are developed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The motion said: \u201cIn Wirral, we listen to and work with our residents, directing money into priorities that local residents want to see. For too long, the previous government disempowered people with endless rules \u2013 we want residents to decide how this money is spent and help build stronger and more resilient communities by providing long term, sustained investment and local control.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">They added: \u201cThis Labour Government, along with Wirral Labour Group on the council, is standing up for Wirral residents in areas that were long forgotten and ignored by the Tories in the 14 years they were in government.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cThe <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/labour-party\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Labour Party<\/a> and local Labour councillors are fully on our residents\u2019 side and want to partner with them to ensure their communities get the investment they truly deserve.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cFor too long previous Tory governments cut resources to our council and our communities. These deep cuts have left their mark and have damaged our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">A number of other motions have been put forward at the same meeting. The Conservatives are asking for a pause as the local authority looks to move ahead with parking charges in a number of areas following continued opposition to the idea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The party have also suggested a number of schemes that could be rolled out, a move they said would support trade across the borough. This includes a 15 minute grace period of free parking, as well as free parking windows on Remembrance Sunday and in the run to Christmas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The Green Party are calling for the council and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to bring <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/merseyrail\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Merseyrail<\/a> back into public hands. They \u201cbelieve Merseyrail\u2019s profit could and should be used for the benefit of local passengers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Wirral\u2019s <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/liberal-democrats\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Liberal Democrats<\/a> have also put a motion forward against the government\u2019s plans to bring in digital ID.
