{"id":592372,"date":"2025-11-25T07:33:19","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T07:33:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/592372\/"},"modified":"2025-11-25T07:33:19","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T07:33:19","slug":"major-proposal-for-birmingham-cycle-route-takes-a-step-forward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/592372\/","title":{"rendered":"Major proposal for Birmingham cycle route takes a step forward"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Major proposals for a <a href=\"https:\/\/plus.expressandstar.com\/news\/local-hubs\/birmingham\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> cycle route that runs from the city centre to a key road have taken a step forward.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2020, the city council installed temporary pop-up cycle lanes across Brum in a bid to help people travel \u2018safely and actively\/ during the Covid pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The local authority in November 2021 then consulted on making a particular cycle route \u2013 the one which runs from the city centre to the A457 Dudley Road \u2013 permanent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the 2021 consultation, the designs have been modified to address feedback and improve the route and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressandstar.com\/news\/transport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cycling<\/a> infrastructure,\u201d the council said recently.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have also improved the signalised junction, including crossings at the A4540 Icknield Street.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/7ec667f5-0028-4700-8ee5-c802910aa25d.PNG\"   alt=\"Proposals for the cycle route from Birmingham city centre to the A457 Dudley Road.
