Brexit <\/a>is costing the UK up to \u00a390 billion a year in lost tax revenue, new analysis has revealed.<\/p>\n The Treasury missed out on \u00a3250 million a day in 2025, according to research published by the House of Commons library.<\/p>\n A recent study by US think-tank the National Bureau of Economic Research found that the British economy is between 6% and 8% smaller than it would have been had Brexit not happened.<\/p>\n According to the House of Commons library, that resulted in between \u00a365bn and \u00a390bn less tax being paid to the government in 2024\/25.<\/p>\n It also found that the average Brit is between \u00a32,700 and \u00a33,700 worse off as a result of the UK\u2019s decision to leave the EU.<\/p>\n The research was carried out on behalf of the Lib Dems<\/a>, whose leader Ed Davey<\/a>\u00a0said: \u201cThe most dishonest campaign in our history said it would save us \u00a3350 million a week, but Brexit actually cost us \u00a3250 million a day in 2025.<\/p>\n \u201cThat is why we have the highest taxes ever, that is why we have sky-high bills, that is why we have a cost of living crisis.<\/p>\n \u201cWorst of all, Labour know the cost of Brexit but refuse to do anything about it. My message ahead of the Budget is clear: fix our broken relationship with Europe to end the cost of living crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n
