BristolLive reported <\/a>that a body was recovered from the water and police said at the time that whilst formal identification had not taken place, the family of Rehaan had been informed.<\/p>\nThe 28-year-old, from Llanelli, was a constable with South Wales Police after first joining the force as a police community support officer (PCSO).<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “It is with immense sadness that we confirm the news of the passing of our colleague and friend PC 8650 Rehaan Akhtar.<\/p>\n
“Rehaan, aged 28, began his journey with South Wales Police as a PCSO in Cardiff in October 2021.<\/p>\n
“He went on to train as a Police Officer and joined the local team in Swansea as a Police Constable in September 2023.”<\/p>\n
Chief Constable Jeremy Vaughan added: “I was shocked and saddened to learn of Rehaan\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n
“At this difficult time, our hearts go out to Rehaan’s family and friends, and we will do all we can to support them.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring his time with South Wales Police he served our communities with pride and professionalism as both a PCSO and a Police Officer.<\/p>\n
“I know he was greatly respected and liked by his colleagues and those he met as part of his day-to-day duties.<\/p>\n
