Meghan Markle<\/strong>, who became the Duchess of Sussex when she married Prince Harry<\/strong> on May 19, 2018, is a member of the royal family \u2014 and don\u2019t you forget it<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The former actress, 44, was profiled for the December\/January cover of Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/a>, and in the article \u2014 which was released online last week \u2014 it was revealed that Meghan was announced by her title before meeting with the publication\u2019s reporter.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re in a grand brownstone on the Upper East Side that belongs to one of Meghan\u2019s friends. When I enter, the house manager announces, \u2018Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,\u2019 even though we appear to be the only other two people<\/a> in the house,\u201d journalist Kaitlyn Greenidge<\/strong> wrote in the story.<\/p>\n

Though Meghan and Harry, 41, stepped back from their royal duties in January 2020 and moved to California, royal experts now claim that the onetime Suits star can\u2019t part with some of the royal perks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeghan loves the pomp, sparkle and drama,\u201d British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard<\/strong> told Fox News Digital<\/a> in an article published Tuesday, November 25. \u201cShe works on the premise that all publicity is good publicity. Visibility is her thing \u2014 but it can also lead to the collapse of a person or brand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chard claimed that announcing Meghan as the Duchess of Sussex in this particular case is \u201cnot protocol, let alone royal protocol.\u201d<\/p>\n

The royal expert called the instance \u201cbizarre\u201d and said she believes it \u201chighlights that Meghan attaches enormous importance to her royal status<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

In another instance from the Harper\u2019s Bazaar article, author Greenidge wrote that they met at La Brea Tar Pits, a museum in Los Angeles. \u201cA golf cart pulls up, the gravel crunching beneath its tires,\u201d she wrote. \u201c\u2018The Duchess of Sussex,\u2019 someone in the scrum announces.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hilary Fordwich<\/strong>, another royal expert, told Fox Digital, \u201cNothing [Meghan] does is by accident. This was very intentional. Instructions were given, so it appears she was making a point \u2014 sadly for her, probably not the point she intended. The use of her royal title is beyond pretentious<\/a>. It\u2019s hypocritical at best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meghan \u2014 who will return to acting as part of the cast of the upcoming film\u00a0Close Personal Friends \u2014 and Harry stepped back from their senior royal duties in 2020. Since then, they have been working with Netflix and promoting their various projects.<\/p>\n
