Multiple motorways are due to be closed overnight in Greater Manchester this week, meaning late-night drivers will need to plan ahead.<\/p>\n

National Highways, the organisation which manages the country\u2019s major A-roads and motorways, has issued a list of all the planned motorway closures in Greater Manchester this week (November 24-30). It confirms seven motorways in the region will be closed, typically for maintenance work.<\/p>\n

The seven in question are the A627(M), M56, M6, M60<\/a>, M61, M62<\/a>, and M66. Closures typically begin around 9pm, and are lifted by 6am.<\/p>\n

They come as more than 1.2m journeys were made to the city centre last weekend, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said, as Christmas<\/a> Market shoppers and festive revellers descended on town. TfGM is urging any visitors to the city to consider using public transport to make it into town, with Metrolink<\/a> park and rides open across Greater Manchester. Four pop-up park and rides have also been opened.<\/p>\n
