{"id":594036,"date":"2025-11-26T02:06:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T02:06:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/594036\/"},"modified":"2025-11-26T02:06:17","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T02:06:17","slug":"seagulls-in-the-community-appoints-new-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/594036\/","title":{"rendered":"Seagulls in the Community appoints new manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Seagulls in the Community, the official charity of Weston-super-Mare AFC, has welcomed Sally Kingston to the role.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Ms Kingston will work closely with charity trustees Bridget Bolland, Andy Kynaston, Oli Bliss, and Alex Crowther, and will be responsible for building partnerships with local organisations, schools, and community groups.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She will also develop new projects to meet community needs, support the charity\u2019s financial sustainability, and oversee The Dugout youth club.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Alex Crowther, trustee of Seagulls in the Community, said: &#8220;Sally is exactly the right person to help us take the next steps.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;She knows the community incredibly well and has already made a real difference through her previous work.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I\u2019m looking forward to her building on the momentum created by Andy Kynaston over the past 12 months \u2013 I\u2019m really pleased Andy will be continuing with the charity as a trustee and our safeguarding officer.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Ms Kingston will also work to expand community access to facilities at The Optima Stadium and lead new fundraising initiatives.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She joins the charity from her most recent role as physical activity coordinator at Voluntary Action North Somerset, where she led the re-launch and delivery of the Go4Free scheme in partnership with North Somerset Council.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The two-year programme increased physical activity among typically less active groups, including individuals living with long-term health conditions and disabilities.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Her earlier career includes experience with North Somerset Council in quality monitoring and adult safeguarding, and with the University of Bristol as a fitness adviser supporting staff and student wellbeing.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Prior to that, Ms Kingston spent more than 20 years at Lloyds Banking Group in business analysis and project delivery roles.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She also runs a mobile personal training business, supporting women to improve their fitness and health.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Ms Kingston holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport, Fitness and Coaching.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She said: &#8220;I\u2019m excited to work alongside the club at such an exciting time and to help strengthen our connection with the local community.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Together, we have a fantastic opportunity to support groups in improving health and wellbeing, creating positive impact that reaches far beyond the pitch.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Since its relaunch in 2023, Seagulls in the Community has grown rapidly and continues to make a positive impact in Weston.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The charity delivers programmes including The Dugout Youth Club, Sport in Mind football, and Friendship Friday.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It has also raised funds for multiple local charities and was recently named the Mayor\u2019s Charity of the Year for 2025\/26.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The charity works in partnership with Weston Ability to ensure football is accessible to everyone.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She enjoys playing padel tennis in her spare time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Seagulls in the Community, the official charity of Weston-super-Mare AFC, has welcomed Sally Kingston to the role.
