Well, with highs of 25C forecast for Greater Manchester, it\u2019s going to feel more like the height of summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">According to the latest forecasts from the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/the-met-office\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Met Office<\/a>, we\u2019re going to bask in several days of sunshine this week with hardly a cloud in the sky.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The temperature is going to creep up too; highs of 23C are forecast for Tuesday by mid-afternoon and it\u2019s going to be even hotter on Wednesday with the mercury likely to reach 25C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">When it\u2019s this hot and sunny, there\u2019s only one place to be &#8211; and that\u2019s by the water. Greater Manchester famously doesn\u2019t have a beach, but it does have several canals and rivers flowing through it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/0_DB_MEN_190421Kings_03jpeg.jpg\" alt=\"The Kings Ransom pub in Sale\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The Kings Ransom pub in Sale(Image: Submitted)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Bridgewater Canal is one of these waterways, passing through <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/salford\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Salford<\/a>, Manchester and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/trafford\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Trafford<\/a> as it continues its journey onto Cheshire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The towpath besides it forms the 39-mile Bridgewater Way, a walking and cycling route with ever-changing scenery, from the office buildings of Media City to the lush Cheshire countryside.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">You can pick up the route in various locations across Greater Manchester, but following the Marathon on Sunday which took runners through <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/sale\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Sale<\/a> and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/altrincham\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Altrincham<\/a>, it seems fitting to explore this stretch in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The beauty of this section of the canal is you can make the walk as long or as short as you like with regular tram stops dotted along its route.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1745613493_504_consent-placeholder.svg.svg+xml\" alt=\"\" height=\"90px\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/metrolink\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Metrolink<\/a> stops Dane Road, Sale, Brooklands and Timperley are all located near the canal, so there\u2019s the option of walking one way and hopping on the tram for the return.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There\u2019s no shortage of watering holes along the way either. In Sale you\u2019ve got the King\u2019s Ransom pub with a huge waterside beer garden then at Brooklands you\u2019ll find The Brook with lots of outdoor seating options.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">But there\u2019s one cafe along the canal which stands out &#8211; Walton Perk Cafe, housed inside a barge moored beside Walton Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It serves up fresh coffee, breakfasts to go, hot dogs, ice creams and lollies, and an array of cakes and sweet treats.
