schools to car traffic at the start and end of the day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/birmingham-city-council\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Birmingham City Council;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Birmingham City Council<\/a> says the car free school streets scheme aims to improve air pollution, reduce congestion and make it safer to walk or cycle to school.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Cotteridge Primary in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/kings-heath-and-stirchley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Stirchley;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Stirchley<\/a>, The Oval School in Garretts Green and Whitehouse Common Primary in Sutton Trinity became the latest schools to join the initiative as part of its fifth phase &#8211; bringing the total number of schools involved to more than 20.<\/p>\n<p><b>READ MORE:<\/b> near the schools at certain times in the morning and afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The council has said it will consider in due course whether the changes should be made permanent.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, residents can leave feedback about the impact of the scheme at the above three schools as part of a public consultation launched this week by the council.<\/p>\n<p>The restrictions apply on the below has also said there are exemptions to the restrictions which \u201callow residents to go about essential business\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Vehicles which may be driven during the closure include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"caas-list caas-list-bullet\">\n<li>\n<p>Vehicles displaying a valid permit.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Vehicles transporting Blue Badge holders.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Emergency services.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Healthcare workers undertaking duties.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Utility companies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Postal service providers and delivery of goods by a Universal Service Provider.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Licensed hire vehicles picking up or dropping off passengers to a property within the restricted
