The Local Energy Alliance Program, or LEAP, has helped more than 1,500 Virginia homeowners transition to solar energy through its streamlined, cost-effective Solarize Virginia program. Now in its 11th year, Solarize Virginia is once again making solar power more accessible by collaborating with municipalities throughout the Commonwealth and offering significant financial incentives and expert guidance to simplify the switch to clean energy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 2025 Solarize Virginia campaign runs from April 15 through July 15, offering residents access to free solar satellite assessments, discounted pricing through a competitive bidding process, vetted installers and support navigating available federal and state incentives\u2014including a 30 percent federal tax credit made available through the Inflation Reduction Act.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPrince William County participates in Solarize Virginia to offer residents a free, trusted resource for accessing affordable solar energy and simplifying the installation process,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Director of the Prince William County Office of Sustainability\u00a0Giulia Manno.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0a great resource for reducing electricity bills and bringing clean energy to our residents.\u201d\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that switching to solar can feel overwhelming due to complicated quotes, high upfront costs or uncertainty about which installer to trust,\u201d said LEAP Solar Program Manager Deborah Arenstein. \u201cOur goal is to simplify the process, provide expert guidance and make it as easy as possible for Virginians to transition to solar power.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since 2014, Solarize Virginia has helped homeowners save money by educating interested homeowners about the benefits of going solar and offering free solar satellite assessments to help Virginians reduce their reliance on traditional energy sources and save money.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is the third year Prince William County has participated in the Solarize program.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIn recent years, the county has led the region in solar capacity growth, with installations doubling between 2022 and 2023,\u201d said Manno. \u201cIn 2024, we became the largest locality in Virginia to\u00a0launch Solar App+ (Solar Automated Permit Processing Plus)<\/a>, and we expect the streamlined permitting and installation process to continue driving increases in residential solar adoption.\u201d<\/p>\n
