Freya Godfrey has discussed how excited she was to be called up to the England squad by Sarina Wiegman for a first time this month.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The London City Lionesses star earned her first international call-up<\/a> for England\u2019s final camp of the year.<\/p>\n Freya Godfrey looking forward to first England camp<\/p>\n With England ravaged by injuries, Freya Godfrey has been given a huge chance for the Lionesses.<\/p>\n Sarina Wiegman has already sung the praises of Godfrey who she believes will add \u2018something different\u2019 to the squad<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 20-year-old spoke about how she was called up ahead of a potential international debut this weekend.<\/p>\n \u201cI was in my car driving to see my brother who is at uni.\u201d She said. \u201cI haven\u2019t seen him for a few months, so I was really excited to see him and then Sarina rang me and I was obviously over the moon.<\/p>\n Joining us for the very first time\ud83d\udc4f<\/p>\n Let\u2019s go, @freyagodfreyyy<\/a>! \u2728 pic.twitter.com\/nRrpBt99CV<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Lionesses (@Lionesses) November 24, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n \u201cI rung my parents and said, \u2018I\u2019ve got to go \u2013 I\u2019m at my brother\u2019s\u2019, I got out the car and told him straight away. It was really nice to have that moment with him where I hadn\u2019t seen him in a while and that was the first thing I could say to him.\u201d<\/p>\n It is sure to be an emotional first camp for Godfrey, but she is eager to learn from the best during the break.<\/p>\n \u201cI think just soaking up as much as I can, learning from the incredible players that are around me,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019ll be good to be in this environment and learn from English legends who I\u2019ve looked up to for a long time. To be around them and Sarina and all her staff, it\u2019s an incredible opportunity that I\u2019m going to take as much from as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n Freya Godfrey reunited with former teammates<\/p>\n Although she spent two years with Arsenal, Freya Godfrey only made two appearances for the Gunners.<\/p>\n The English youngster is set to reunite with former teammates at the England camp such as Alessia Russo, Chloe Kelly and Beth Mead.<\/p>\n Godfrey played on loan at London City last season and made her move permanent in the summer after a successful spell.<\/p>\n This season the talented youngster suffered an injury setback at the start of the campaign and she only returned to action in October.<\/p>\n Since returning Godfrey has been impressive \u2013 with her performances in November earning her a player of the month nomination.<\/a><\/p>\n It is unlikely that Godfrey will start for the Lionesses in either of their final Homecoming Tour<\/a> fixtures, however she is expected to make her debut against China or Ghana.<\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t<\/a> \t<\/a> \t<\/a>\n
