A man in his 30s has died after suffering life-threatening injuries in a street attack in Worceter before being rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham<\/p>\n

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died in a city street attack.<\/p>\n

A man in his 30s suffered life-threatening injuries following the incident in Barbourne Road in Worcester<\/a>, to the north of the city centre, in the early hours of Tuesday (November 25).<\/p>\n

Emergency crews rushed to the scene at around 4.15am where they found a man fighting for his life.<\/p>\n

He was given advanced life support before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital<\/a> in Birmingham<\/a>,<\/p>\n

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service<\/a> said: \u201cWe were called to a medical emergency on Barbourne Road in Worcester at 4.14am.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a MERIT (Medical Emergency Response and Intervention Team) trauma doctor with critical care paramedic and the Air Ambulance Critical Care Car from Strensham to the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn arrival, crews found a man in a critical condition and immediately began administering advanced life support. He was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police have now confirmed the man died at the hospital later on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

West Mercia Police<\/a> said: \u201cHis death is now being investigated as murder.\u201d<\/p>\n

Five people had been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of attempted murder. A sixth man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The men, aged between 22 and 35, all remain in custody.<\/p>\n

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Holehouse, said: \u201cFirst and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know this incident has shocked the local community. I\u2019d like to reassure you that we\u2019re working hard and at pace to understand what happened yesterday, and that at this stage there is nothing to suggest any wider risk to the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cA scene guard remains in place on Barbourne Road while we collect evidence and carry out enquiries, and you\u2019ll continue to see an increased police presence in the area throughout today.\u201d<\/p>\n
