A stolen van ploughed into a building, with the driver fleeing the scene moments after. Merseyside Police <\/a>were called to Smithdown Road in Wavertree<\/a> at around 9.20pm on Wednesday, November 26, following reports a white Transit van had reversed into the front of an estate agents.<\/p>\n Photos from the scene show the van embedded in the doorway of the building, with the driver’s door left open. Police said the driver ran in the direction of Liverpool city centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n No injuries were reported and the building was being assessed by a structural engineer, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police <\/a>said. Drivers were told to avoid the area as emergency services dealt with the scene.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Merseyside Police<\/a> said: \u201cWe are appealing for information following a report that a stolen van had crashed into a building in Wavertree this evening.<\/p>\n “At around 9.20pm we received a report that a stolen white Transit van had reversed into an estate agents on Smithdown Road and the driver fled the scene, running towards Liverpool city centre.<\/p>\n \u201cNo injuries have been reported and the building will now be assessed by a structural engineer. Officers remain at the scene and road closures are in place in the surrounding area.<\/p>\n “Motorists are advised to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident.
