HEALTH LAUNCH: New dementia service launches in Scotland <\/p>\n

As\u00a0cases of dementia\u00a0are\u00a0set to rise by more than 50 per cent by 2044, a new specialist\u00a0service\u00a0is opening\u00a0to support people across\u00a0Scotland\u00a0–\u00a0with plans to roll out to the rest of the UK.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

The UK\u2019s first\u00a0Brain Health\u00a0–\u00a0Dementia Pathways\u00a0service created\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0health and wellbeing\u00a0organisation\u00a0Health is One, is being launched from their HQ in Uddingston, near Glasgow. \u00a0<\/p>\n

As NHS waiting times for dementia diagnosis reach a record high with some patients waiting\u00a0more than\u00a0two years, Health is One offers rapid diagnosis.<\/p>\n

And what sets it apart from other private diagnostic services is high quality continuous support up to and beyond diagnosis including wraparound support for families and carers.<\/p>\n

When a diagnosis is made, the\u00a0Health\u00a0is One team of psychologists, nurses, doctors, and therapists is on hand to support families, helping them plan for emergencies, manage finances, deal with emotional\u00a0struggles\u00a0and understand legal implications.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

Leading the team is Professor June Andrews OBE, an internationally recognised specialist in dementia and care of older people.<\/p>\n

Prof Andrews\u00a0has written widely on dementia and has\u00a0advised\u00a0the NHS,\u00a0universities\u00a0and governments\u00a0as well as families and voluntary organisations.<\/p>\n
