Fidan last visited the country on Feb.14\u201317 to attend the 61st Munich Security Conference, while his German counterpart was most recently hosted in Ankara on Oct. 17.<\/p>\n<p>During the upcoming visit, Fidan is also expected to meet with Turkish business leaders and representatives of civil society organizations in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>According to diplomatic sources, Fidan\u2019s talks with Wadephul will underline \u201cthe importance of maintaining the work of consultation and dialogue mechanisms that have gained momentum through high-level visits in T\u00fcrkiye-Germany relations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The minister is expected to express satisfaction with \u201cthe steady strengthening of bilateral economic and trade relations,\u201d and to assess opportunities for advancing cooperation mechanisms in energy and transportation \u201cwith a strategic vision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fidan will also highlight that information and experience sharing with Germany \u201ccan be further enhanced in areas such as connectivity, artificial intelligence, high technology and digitalization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; T\u00fcrkiye-Germany relations<\/p>\n<p>Diplomatic sources also offered an overview of T\u00fcrkiye-Germany relations, which continue to gain momentum through political, economic, commercial, military, defense, human and cultural engagements.<\/p>\n<p>German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier last visited T\u00fcrkiye on Feb. 5, 2025, while Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited on Oct. 29-30, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Germany remains T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s strongest trade partner in Europe and its largest export market worldwide, with bilateral trade reaching $47.5 billion in 2024 (exports: $20.4 billion; imports: $27.08 billion).<\/p>\n<p>The two countries maintain the goal of raising trade volume to $60 billion in the short term.<\/p>\n<p>Germany\u2019s direct investments in T\u00fcrkiye amounted to $771 million in 2024, making it the second-largest foreign investor with a 12% share. Between 2005\u20132024, German direct investments in T\u00fcrkiye reached $13 billion, while Turkish investments in Germany exceeded $4 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The most recent meeting of the T\u00fcrkiye\u2013Germany Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO\/ETOK) was held in Berlin on Sept. 27, 2024, with the next session planned for T\u00fcrkiye in the first half of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>With a population of more than 3 million, the Turkish community in Germany continues to form \u201cthe human foundation of T\u00fcrkiye\u2013Germany relations,\u201d strengthening the social and cultural ties between the two countries, the sources added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; T\u00fcrkiye-EU relations<\/p>\n<p>He is also expected to convey T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s expectations regarding its EU relations, including the modernization of the Customs Union, progress in Visa Liberalization Dialogue, and T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s inclusion in the EU\u2019s industrial strategy.<\/p>\n<p>The minister will stress that \u201ca stronger, institutionalized and mutually trusted cooperation between T\u00fcrkiye and the EU must be developed,\u201d while welcoming recent constructive statements on revitalizing T\u00fcrkiye\u2013EU strategic dialogue.<\/p>\n<p>He will underline that T\u00fcrkiye is \u201ca strong country and a NATO ally capable of making significant contributions to Europe\u2019s security architecture, stability and prosperity in every respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In this context, Fidan will draw attention to the importance of ensuring that the EU\u2019s recently accelerated defense and security initiatives \u201care carried out in coordination with T\u00fcrkiye in a manner complementary to NATO\u2019s efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He is also expected to emphasize the importance of T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s active participation in the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) mechanism and to discuss possible areas of cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>On defense, Fidan will exchange views on \u201cjoint projects that could be implemented to strengthen military relations and defense industry cooperation between the two allied countries,\u201d underscoring that the agreement reached on the procurement of Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft represents \u201can important development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Diplomatic sources noted that Fidan will reiterate that \u201cthe peace, security and well-being of the Turkish community in Germany is a fundamental priority for T\u00fcrkiye.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Regional stability, security<\/p>\n<p>The minister will also reaffirm T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s commitment to efforts aimed at ending the Russia\u2013Ukraine war through \u201ca just and lasting peace acceptable to all parties,\u201d and will state that T\u00fcrkiye stands ready to contribute to steps taken in this direction.<\/p>\n<p>Turning to the Middle East, Fidan will stress that \u201cIsrael must not be allowed to undermine the ceasefire achieved in Gaza,\u201d and will emphasize the need to secure \u201ca permanent ceasefire in Gaza, uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid, the launch of reconstruction efforts, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He will note that steps taken under the relevant UN Security Council resolution, including the establishment of a \u201cPeace Board\u201d and an \u201cInternational Stabilization Force,\u201d must align with the perspective of a two-state solution.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding Syria, Fidan will discuss ongoing efforts and contacts aimed at achieving lasting stability and security in the country \u201con the basis of Syria\u2019s territorial integrity and unity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He is also expected to state that, as a new member of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS (Daesh), Syria must be placed at the center of counterterrorism efforts, and that \u201call restrictions and sanctions on Syria should be lifted\u201d within this framework.<\/p>\n<p>                            &#13;<br \/>\n                                <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aa.com.tr\/en\/p\/subscription\/1001\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"font-size:12px;
