{"id":597647,"date":"2025-11-27T18:31:36","date_gmt":"2025-11-27T18:31:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/597647\/"},"modified":"2025-11-27T18:31:36","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T18:31:36","slug":"germanys-diehl-successfully-tests-cicada-anti-aircraft-drone-on-kdv-vehicle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/597647\/","title":{"rendered":"\u200bGermany&#8217;s Diehl Successfully Tests Cicada Anti-Aircraft Drone on KDV Vehicle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>German defense company Diehl, known for its IRIS-T air defense systems and missiles, has successfully tested two new anti-aircraft weapons: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.defence-ua.com\/industries\/germany_tests_battle_proven_kdv_anti_drone_vehicle_could_buy_quickly_if_impressed-16458.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the KDV anti-drone vehicle<\/a> and the Cicada anti-aircraft drone.<\/p>\n<p>It is worth noting that <a href=\"https:\/\/en.defence-ua.com\/weapon_and_tech\/what_is_the_diehls_obscure_kinetic_defence_vehicle_germany_sent_to_ukraine_as_aid-12972.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ukraine operates the Kinetic Defense Vehicles<\/a>, with at least 16 having been transferred to the Ukrainian army as part of aid.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"readmore\"><p><b>Read more: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/en.defence-ua.com\/industries\/uk_ukraine_conclud_agreement_on_licensed_production_of_octopus_interceptor_drone_what_is_known_about_it-16626.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ukraine, \u200bUK Conclud Agreement on Licensed Production of Octopus Interceptor Drone &#8211; What is Known About It<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The tests were conducted at the Grafenw\u00f6hr training area in eastern Germany, demonstrating the effectiveness of both systems, which was achieved through &#8220;automation based on artificial intelligence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It is noted that the Cicada anti-aircraft drone has been integrated into the Sky Sphere system, which is a modular solution responsible for detecting, classifying, and destroying drones. According to the published image, it integrates radar and optical sensors alongside the Cicada containerized launch system. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/5c3692879b3985ce.jpg\" alt=\"Germany's Diehl Successfully Tests Cicada Anti-Aircraft Drone on KDV Vehicle, Defense Express\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Cicada anti-aircraft drone, which was first unveiled in February this year, can be equipped not only with a full-fledged 0.5 kg warhead, but also with a net. The latter enables the non-lethal interception of some small drones.<\/p>\n<p>From Defense Express we would like to note that this solution could have significant implications for Germany and a number of other European countries. The Cicada equipped with a net is not essentially a weapon and can be supplied and used under different regulations. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/406692879be95ae2.jpg\" alt=\"Germany's Diehl Successfully Tests Cicada Anti-Aircraft Drone on KDV Vehicle, Defense Express\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This is clearly illustrated by the problems encountered by EU countries when &#8220;unknown&#8221; russian drones appear over their civilian and military facilities. It appears that bureaucracy prevents them from being shot down.<\/p>\n<p>Another image shows what appears to be a KDV operating against an air target.
