{"id":598997,"date":"2025-11-28T10:08:14","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T10:08:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/598997\/"},"modified":"2025-11-28T10:08:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T10:08:14","slug":"budget-changes-mean-bristol-pub-owner-will-pay-8500-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/598997\/","title":{"rendered":"Budget changes mean Bristol pub owner &#8216;will pay \u00a38,500 more&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Businesses rates have been discounted since the pandemic. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Last year the usual rate was reduced by 75% and this financial year the discount was set at 40%. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">However, it was announced on Wednesday that there would be no discount in the next financial year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Instead, the government is lowering the overall &#8220;multiplier&#8221; used to calculate business rates. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">But at the same time the government has readjusted the values of commercial property, with venues like Mr Moore&#8217;s pubs increasing &#8211; meaning he and other business owners will actually pay more. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Mr Moore said: &#8220;This is all, in my opinion, political manipulation to show the public that actually you should be getting a cheaper deal at the pubs, when in actual fact [Rachel Reeve] is putting taxes up elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;It&#8217;s the same sort of thing that happens every year because of the budget,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Businesses rates have been discounted since the pandemic.
