Somerset Police and National Highways traffic officers have been at the scene.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe A46 northbound is now open between the A420 (Cold Ashton) and the M4 following a collision involving a motorcycle and a car, and lane one is now open southbound,\u201d National Highways: South-West said on X.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThanks for your patience.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  National Highways: South West initially said at around 4.45am today the A46 southbound was shut due to the collision between the car and the motorcycle.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It said both Avon &amp; Somerset Police and National Highways traffic officers were at the scene of the crash.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Then at around 5.15am, National Highways: South West said the road was closed in both directions.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Just before 8am, the route remained shut both ways for clear-up and recovery work.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  However, in an update at around 8.30am, National Highways: South West said: \u201cLane two has reopened on the A46 southbound between the M4 and the A420.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe northbound carriageway remains closed between the A420 (Cold Ashton) and the M4 for recovery and clear-up works following a collision involving a motorcycle and a car.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  National Highways, which manages and improves England\u2019s motorways and major A roads, told the public on its website to \u2018expect delays\u2019 following the collision.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe A46 in South Gloucestershire is closed northbound between the A420 and M4 due to a collision involving a motorcycle and a car,\u201d a spokesperson said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cLane one is closed on the southbound carriageway.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe incident is being led by Avon and Somerset Police, with National Highways traffic officers currently on scene to assist with traffic management and clear-up works.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cTraffic is being diverted via roads in the area.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cIf this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cPlan ahead &#8211;
