A bright, orange light could be seen travelling across the sky above Greater Manchester amid a string of satellite launches.<\/p>\n
Video footage captured the moment the burning light was seen travelling above Little Hulton, in Salford<\/a>, on Monday night (April 28).<\/p>\n As it passes above, the orange glow gets brighter and bigger, before it fizzles away in the distance.<\/p>\n It comes amid a string of satellite launches in recent days for Starlink, a satellite internet provider which is part of Elon Musk’s SpaceX company.<\/p>\n A rival programme, called Kuiper, was also launched by rival company Amazon on Monday.<\/p>\n Starlink launched 27 satellites from California and a further 23 from Florida on Monday.<\/p>\n The company also launched a number of satellites on Sunday night, which marked Starlink’s 250th dedicated launch.<\/p>\n Starlink satellites have been seen above Greater Manchester following launches on a number of occasions in recent years.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Amazon launched its first 27 satellites for Project Kuiper on Monday.<\/p>\n It was the first of more than 80 planned launches for the company.<\/p>\n —<\/p>\n Day in day out, our reporters in the Manchester Evening News newsroom bring you remarkable stories from all aspects of Mancunian life.
