Commenting on today&#8217;s developments, he says he is &#8220;bitterly disappointed&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I was lucky I found my cancer early, but nearly 10,000 men a year are diagnosed too late for a cure and that&#8217;s just not right,&#8221; he says.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Actor Tony Robinson\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/ccf2c152-2d1e-4b11-b151-8d737b615a90.jpg.webp.webp\"  width=\"2122\" height=\"1194\" class=\"ssrcss-11yxrdo-Image edrdn950\"\/>Image source, PA Media<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-cgjb6m-Keyword e2vephq0\">Former professional footballer Les Ferdinand<\/b>, whose grandfather died from the disease, points out that black men are at &#8220;double the risk&#8221; and &#8220;twice as likely to die&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Something has to be done,&#8221; he says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;It&#8217;s unacceptable that outdated guidelines mean GPs can&#8217;t talk to black men about their risk despite it being so high,&#8221; he adds.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Former Newcastle United striker Les Ferdinand\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/0c3db576-aba7-4eb0-a034-4a3c0d39e7bd.jpg.webp.webp\"  width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" class=\"ssrcss-11yxrdo-Image edrdn950\"\/>Image source, Getty Images<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-cgjb6m-Keyword e2vephq0\">Journalist Dermot Murnaghan<\/b>, who has previously worked for ITV, the BBC and Sky News, says he &#8220;thought we were heading to an exciting moment&#8221;.
