Barbara Spackman of Tickets Scotland was described as the \u201cheart and soul\u201d of the company for nearly 30 years.<\/p>\n

A \u201ctrue legend of the Scottish music industry\u201d has died aged 63. Tributes have been paid to Barbara Spackman, who was director of independent ticket agency, Tickets Scotland<\/a>, and the \u201cheart and soul\u201d of the company for nearly 30 years.<\/p>\n

Barbara died on November 22 following a \u201cshort but incredibly brave battle with cancer<\/a>\u201d, the company announced on social media<\/a>. A statement added: \u201cFor nearly 30 years, Barbara was the heart and soul of Tickets Scotland. We know first-hand the impact Barbara had on everyone she met \u2013 customers, bands, promoters, colleagues and friends. She was a true one-off and completely irreplaceable.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are no words big enough to describe how important Barbara was to us all. We will miss her more than we can ever say. Rest easy Babs. Thank you for everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Partner of Brian and sister of Linda, Karen and Alex, the family has said following her funeral at Falkirk <\/a>crematorium on December 10, a celebration of Barbara\u2019s life with a memorial held in Glasgow will take place at a venue to be confirmed on April 13.<\/p>\n

Friends of Barbara and people who bought tickets from her at the Virgin Megastore<\/a> on Glasgow\u2019s Union Street, responded to the social media post announcing her death.<\/p>\n

One person wrote: \u201cI\u2019ve had a lifetime of great gigs where I got my tickets from Barbara, the last being what seems like yesterday. She is linked to my memories, and so many other people\u2019s memories because she was so helpful and kind, bright and vibrant. A music lover who spent her life helping other music lovers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another added: \u201cA true legend of the Scottish music industry and an unsung hero.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third said: \u201cThink every kid growing up in the 80s\/ 90s has had a buzz of that friendly face as they grabbed a prized ticket. Reading down the big list and getting a brief.
