{"id":602880,"date":"2025-11-30T07:15:29","date_gmt":"2025-11-30T07:15:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/602880\/"},"modified":"2025-11-30T07:15:29","modified_gmt":"2025-11-30T07:15:29","slug":"teddy-swims-says-he-sometimes-uses-ai-to-make-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/602880\/","title":{"rendered":"Teddy Swims says he sometimes uses AI to make music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/teddy-swims\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teddy Swims<\/a> has revealed that he sometimes uses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/tag\/ai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI<\/a> to make music.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"post-content-read-more\">\n<li><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/features\/music-interviews\/teddy-swims-reading-2024-interview-lose-control-new-music-3786516\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Teddy Swims tells us about the life-changing \u2018Lose Control\u2019 and \u201chealed\u201d new music at Reading Festival 2024<\/b><\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Speaking at an in-conversation keynote address at South by Southwest Sydney (SXSW Sydney) recently, he shared that while in the city, his producers back in LA were able to use AI to change a song lyric.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRather than me going [to] the studio and doing the line 15 times and spending that time and money and effort, he\u2019s actually been able to go in and just change the word,\u201d Swims said, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2025-10-16\/teddy-swims-tells-sxsw-sydney-he-uses-ai-in-music\/105897908\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC AU<\/a>. \u201cAnd something small like that, I think AI has been very helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swims also said that he has used AI to assist in writing while on the road. \u201cWhat we\u2019ll do is maybe just take an acoustic and write the melody and the lyrics and just get the song done and upload it into it and say, \u2018OK, I want to hear this song as a country song\u2019 or \u2018I want to hear this song as a rock and roll song\u2019,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead of taking time to reproduce something over and over and over again in so many different ways that would take months sometimes to do, you can get the idea of what something would be fully fleshed out in this lane.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you use it the correct way, I think it\u2019s a beautiful tool,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>He also went on to highlight the dangers of AI, saying that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/xania-monet-becomes-first-ai-artist-to-chart-on-us-billboard-rankings-3904887\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">entirely AI-generated artists<\/a> are not something he was \u201csuper pumped\u201d about, and he has come across several \u201cgoofy\u201d AI videos of himself.<\/p>\n<p>However, he added that he did find one where he thought the chorus was \u201creally excellent\u201d, saying: \u201cAnd I was like, I could probably just maybe take this chorus and rework it and write some verses to it,\u201d Swims said.<\/p>\n<p>He then explained that he called the creator and asked if he could use it, assuming he would be allowed, as it was his voice on the track, but learnt that he would have to seek the rights and permission from them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I was like \u2018well, that just sounds like bullshit,&#8217;\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, it was reported that a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/new-study-finds-97-per-cent-of-people-cant-tell-the-difference-between-real-and-ai-music-3908402\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new study found that 97 per cent of people \u201ccan\u2019t tell the difference\u201d between real and AI music<\/a>. A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom-deezer.com\/2025\/11\/deezer-ipsos-survey-ai-music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cfirst-of-its-kind\u201d survey<\/a>\u00a0asked around 9,000 people from eight different countries around the world, to listen to three tracks to determine which was fully AI-generated.<\/p>\n<p>The stats come during a period of continued controversy for AI technology in the music industry, with a recent study sharing the stark warning that<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/music-sector-workers-to-lose-near-a-quarter-of-all-work-over-next-four-years-says-study-3818880\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0people working in music are likely to lose a quarter of their income to Artificial Intelligence over the next four years.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In September,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/spotify-removes-75-million-tracks-from-platform-in-crackdown-on-ai-3895278\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spotify confirmed that it was cracking down on AI by removing 75million \u201cspammy tracks\u201d and targeting impersonators<\/a>. This followed a report claiming that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/ai-generated-songs-are-being-added-to-dead-musicians-pages-on-spotify-without-permission-3879795\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI-generated songs were being uploaded to dead musicians\u2019 Spotify profiles without permission<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>As for Swims, the singer released his second album, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/teddy-swims-announces-continuation-of-debut-album-with-ive-tried-everything-but-therapy-part-2-3798394\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I\u2019ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2)<\/a>\u2019, in January. To celebrate the release, he has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/teddy-swims-announces-2025-uk-and-european-arena-tour-3794104\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">already played numerous shows throughout this year<\/a>, and will be wrapping up the tour with further stops in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Dubai.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2)\u2019 was given\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/album\/teddy-swims-ive-tried-everything-but-therapy-part-two-review-3831636\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a four-star review<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0NME\u00a0which read: \u201cThe swiftly released follow-up staves off a bad case of sequelitis because it successfully deepens Swims\u2019 story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s \u2018coming from more of a healed spot\u2019 now, as he put it to\u00a0NME\u00a0backstage at Reading Festival last summer; opener \u2018Not Your Man\u2019, with its thunderous percussion and ominous, rolling bassline, certainly sounds like the work of a man emboldened by world domination,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>His signature sound also earned him a spot on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/bose-x-nme-c24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the \u2018Bose x NME: C24\u2019 mixtape<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/teddy-swims-releases-new-single-funeral-from-upcoming-bose-x-nme-c24-mixtape-3771993\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the doo-wop-inspired, contemporary pop ballad \u2018Funeral<\/a>, and since then he has also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/teddy-swims-on-challenge-of-taking-break-when-son-is-born-if-i-stop-touring-then-we-cant-afford-to-have-a-baby-3843819\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">opened up about the struggle of balancing taking time off to welcome a baby<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Swims has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/teddy-swims-announces-huge-summer-2026-uk-and-ireland-outdoor-shows-3895949\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently announced details of a huge tour for the UK and Ireland next summer<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Teddy Swims has revealed that he sometimes uses AI to make music.
