Noel Gallagher<\/a> has broken his silence on the ticket chaos for the upcoming Oasis<\/a> reunion tour<\/a>, and revealed his favourite songs by the band.<\/p>\n

When tickets for the highly awaited string of shows were first announced back in August, Oasis revealed efforts to prevent touts from re-selling tickets at inflated prices by partnering\u00a0with resale platform Twickets<\/a> and issuing a statement to say that tickets sold for profit on other sites would be cancelled.<\/p>\n

However, when tickets finally went on sale that month, and promptly sold out following multi-hour-long queues<\/a>, it was reported that four per cent of them \u2013 or roughly 50,000 \u2013 ended up on resale sites.<\/p>\n

Some even popped up on secondary ticket sites for as much as \u00a310,000, causing the band to write on social media<\/a>: \u201cWe have noticed people attempting to sell tickets on the secondary market since the start of the pre-sale. Please note, tickets can ONLY be resold, at face value, via Ticketmaster and Twickets.\u201d<\/p>\n

In February, thousands of tickets were then cancelled by Ticketmaster<\/a> in a crackdown on bots, but many fans claimed they have been targeted wrongfully. NME contacted Ticketmaster for a response at the time, and they advised anybody with queries to consult their \u2018Oasis Refunds FAQ\u2019 page here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, Noel Gallagher has responded to the immense rush for tickets. In a new interview with former\u00a0NME photographer<\/a>\u00a0Kevin Cummins for his new book Oasis: The Masterplan<\/a> \u2013 published March 27 and available here<\/a> \u2013 the musician said he was surprised by the scale of demand.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it\u2019d be a big deal, but I was a bit taken aback by just how much of a big deal it was,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He may have also provided a hint as to what songs will make it onto the setlist, when Cummins quizzed him on his favourite Oasis song. \u201cCan I have more than one? \u2018Supersonic\u2019, \u2018Some Might Say\u2019, \u2018Live Forever\u2019 and \u2018Rock\u2019n\u2019Roll Star,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In an interview with NME in 2023<\/a>, Noel revealed the tracks he likes the least, and outlined what he saw as the \u201cflaws\u201d in Oasis\u2019s discography.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell I don\u2019t like the sound of \u2018Morning Glory\u2019 at all,\u201d he said. \u201cThe only album that is perfect would be \u2018Definitely Maybe\u2019. \u2018Be Here Now\u2019, the songs are too long. \u2018Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants\u2019, not enough good songs and a lot of filler on that.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Heathen Chemistry\u2019 had a couple of good tunes: \u2018Little By Little\u2019 and \u2018Stop Crying Your Heart Out\u2019, the rest of it is a bit \u2018meh\u2019. \u2018Don\u2019t Believe The Truth\u2019 is pretty good, \u2018Dig Out Your Soul\u2019 kind of tails off towards the end. They\u2019re all flawed in some way.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Ticket sales also came under controversy when fans found they\u00a0were listed for hugely inflated prices due to \u201cdynamic\u201d pricing<\/a> (an automatic surge increase due to demand). Both the CMA<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0the European Commission<\/a> are investigating the issue.<\/p>\n

Oasis have said\u00a0that they \u201cat no time had any awareness<\/a>\u00a0that dynamic pricing was going to be used\u201d in the sale, claiming that \u201cprior meetings between promoters, Ticketmaster and the band\u2019s management resulted in a positive ticket sale strategy, which would be a fair experience for fans, including dynamic ticketing to help keep general ticket prices down as well as reduce touting, the execution of the plan failed to meet expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n

The band later announced \u201ca small step towards making amends for the situation\u201d with \u201ca special invitation-only ballot ticket sale strategy\u201d<\/a> for two additional Wembley gigs on September 27 and 28.<\/p>\n

In anticipation of the tour, which kicks off on July 4 in Cardiff,\u00a0sources close to the band told\u00a0NME\u00a0that the band\u2019s line-up<\/a>\u00a0will include\u00a0Andy Bell<\/a>, Gem Archer, Paul \u201cBonehead\u201d Arthurs and Joey Waronker, alongside\u00a0Noel<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Liam Gallagher<\/a>.<\/p>\n
