{"id":604376,"date":"2025-12-01T01:31:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T01:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/604376\/"},"modified":"2025-12-01T01:31:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T01:31:17","slug":"york-and-acomb-firefighters-answer-999-call-to-compost-heap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/604376\/","title":{"rendered":"York and Acomb firefighters answer 999 call to compost heap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The drama started when one commercial compost heap which measured 40 metres by 15 metres caught fire yesterday evening in close proximity to other compost heaps.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Acomb and York fire crews answered the 999 call and tackled the blaze.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Because of the strong winds, they feared the fire would spread to the other heaps and used their main jets to stop them from igniting.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  After the blaze was extinguished and the fire crews made sure that it was safe for them to leave, onsite staff monitored the heap for the rest of the night.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Acomb firefighters will return to the site to carry out checks today.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Tinker Lane is off the B1224 just outside Rufforth and leads to Harewood Whin Waste Transfer Station and the Yorkshire Outdoor Activity Centre.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The cause has not been revealed.
