One of which happens to be Nintendo&#8217;s very own Shigeru Miyamoto, which former Rare designer and director Gregg Mayles revealed <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Ghoulyboy\/status\/1995198826211340653\">on social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing a fax from the legendary game creator and director (thanks, <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.timeextension.com\/news\/2025\/12\/former-rare-designer-reveals-what-shigeru-miyamoto-thought-of-banjo-kazooies-n64-sequel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Time Extension<\/a>!), Mayles says &#8220;Nice of him that compliment (in my mind anyway)&#8221; before explaining just what a fax is \u2014 to those youngsters online, of course.<\/p>\n<p>The fax itself is a written notice of approval of the final rom of Banjo-Tooie, the sequel to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/n64\/banjo-kazooie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Banjo-Kazooie<\/a>, with an additional note hand-written by Miyamoto in English which says &#8220;splendid game&#8221; with a little thumbs up and smiley face.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" align=\"center\"><p>Here is the fax from Miyamoto-san approving Banjo-Tooie for release in Japan. Faxes were like emails before emails existed, which came very slowly out of a printer <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/28df4psryz\">pic.twitter.com\/28df4psryz<\/a>\u2014 Gregg Mayles (@Ghoulyboy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ghoulyboy\/status\/1995198826211340653?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">November 30, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s a cute little piece of history, and the timing is pretty perfect too \u2014 the game just celebrated its 25th birthday a few weeks ago, and we too (read: this writer) have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/features\/opinion-banjo-tooie-is-pure-nightmare-fuel-and-i-wouldnt-have-it-any-other-way\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fond memories of the follow-up<\/a>, which takes a bit of a darker, bigger turn.<\/p>\n<p>Mayles left Rare earlier this year following a number of layoffs at Microsoft and the cancellation of Everwild. Back in October, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2025\/10\/banjo-kazooie-director-marks-departure-from-rare-with-a-poem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">developer shared a poem on his final day at the studio<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Are you a Banjo-Tooie fan?
