The legislation is being pushed by White and TKO Boxing in hopes of circumventing the current system<\/a>. While the bill touts better pay, more career opportunities and greater safety protections, critics insist the changes are a thinly-veiled excuse to \u201cbring the pay back down<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Today\u2019s presser includes quotes attributed to Tyson but they sound nothing like the aging \u201cIron\u201d man, which means someone else wrote this drivel and got Tyson to approve it.<\/p>\n \u201cMuhammad Ali has always been my hero, both inside and outside the ring,\u201d Tyson said. \u201cSupporting these revisions honors the spirit of the original Ali Act by closing loopholes that have allowed some promoters to regain monopolistic control over fighters\u2019 careers. This new legislation restores balance \u2014 allowing boxers to choose their own path while preserving the integrity of the sport. The Act does not alter the opportunities of those who are comfortable with the current system; it simply adds options for fighters who wish to pursue a different path that better suits their career goals.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe proposed reforms provide meaningful benefits for fighters,\u201d Tyson added. \u201cEstablishing a per-round minimum ensures that every athlete who steps into the ring receives fair compensation for the risks they take with their body and mind. The requirement for mandatory health insurance is equally critical \u2013 no fighter should ever have to choose between paying medical bills and pursuing their career.
