{"id":606219,"date":"2025-12-01T23:39:36","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T23:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/606219\/"},"modified":"2025-12-01T23:39:36","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T23:39:36","slug":"edinburgh-hibs-bar-with-links-to-trainspotting-for-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/606219\/","title":{"rendered":"Edinburgh Hibs bar with links to Trainspotting for sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irvinetimes.com\/local-news\/irvine-news\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Irvine<\/a> Welsh\u2019s magnum opus, Renton and Begbie visit the pub for a pint before relieving themselves at the ruined Leith Central Station.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The real-life pub opened in the 1970s, after Younger returned to the city of his birth following a long career, which included stops in Liverpool, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/local-news\/falkirk-news\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Falkirk<\/a>, and Leeds.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img  \/><\/p>\n<p>\n  Current proprietor Richard Currie has operated the pub for the last 26 years and is stepping aside after nearly three decades of pulling pints.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Commenting on the decision to take the pub to market, he said: \u201cWe&#8217;d like to say a big thank you to all customers past and present. Without you, the pub wouldn\u2019t have been such a success.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Imram Rahman-Jones, who runs Edinburgh Pub <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/review\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reviews<\/a> on Substack, described the interior of the well-loved pub in 2024.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI doubt the place has changed too much since Tommy Younger was in charge,\u201d Rahman-Jones said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cIt\u2019s avowedly old-school, with its flat roof, vertical slatted blinds and fruit machines. Perhaps the tellies are a newer addition, but I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if the pool table and dart board have been there for decades.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>Read more:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Simon Watson, who is managing the sale for Christie &amp; Co added: \u201cThe Harp &amp; Castle is a perfect example of a traditional pub.
