Chris Davies has praised Birmingham City\u2019s<\/a> new power couple after Tommy Doyle and Paik Seung-ho <\/a>won the midfield battle against Watford.<\/p>\n Doyle<\/a> and Paik\u2019s promising partnership continued to flourish in the 2-1 win over the Hornets.<\/a> Paik and Demarai Gray\u2019s goals clinched a fourth straight home win for seventh-placed Blues.<\/p>\n Paik only scored once in League One last season but he already has four goals to his name in the Championship after 18 games.<\/p>\n Davies commented: \u201cI\u2019ve definitely spoken to Paik since I\u2019ve been here about his ability to score more goals.<\/p>\n \u201cAll the coaches would always say to me \u2013 because they do the shooting on the pitch before the game \u2013 that he\u2019s such a good finisher, whether it\u2019s left foot or right foot.<\/p>\n \u201cThey had two good midfielders in there (Hector Kyprianou and Imran Louza) and I would say we got the better of them with Tommy and Paik.<\/p>\n \u201cTo go up and win the ball is one thing, but then to go on and take the space and shoot. Paik is two-footed, he\u2019s quick, he\u2019s strong.<\/p>\n \u201cHe shouldn\u2019t be there really. Most players would still be in the treatment room with his shoulder. He\u2019s an exceptional player for us.\u201d<\/p>\n Paik had to shake off a knee injury after being on the wrong end of a hefty challenge by Kyprianou. The Watford man\u2019s studs connected with Paik\u2019s knee but the referee only deemed it worthy of a yellow card.<\/p>\n \u201cYou don\u2019t want to see people sent off but if that\u2019s in the Premier League and there\u2019s VAR he\u2019s off,\u201d said Davies.<\/p>\n Back to Blues\u2019 engine room and Doyle also earned Davies\u2019 praise.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought Tommy was good,\u201d said Davies. \u201cYou see his moments of quality where he can switch the play, he can play forward but he does it quickly. He\u2019s got really good awareness of what\u2019s around him and he does his defensive work \u2013 I think he played his part for the second goal where the boy Maamma has dribbled inside and he\u2019s just closed that space, nicked the ball and we\u2019ve gone forward from there.<\/p>\n \u201cI always say to the players it\u2019s defensive first, it\u2019s what you do for the team and you\u2019ve got to be really consistent with that because we know you\u2019ve got the skills going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n Have Doyle and Paik impressed you?
