{"id":607121,"date":"2025-12-02T09:47:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T09:47:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/607121\/"},"modified":"2025-12-02T09:47:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T09:47:17","slug":"starmer-brexit-has-seriously-damaged-the-british-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/607121\/","title":{"rendered":"Starmer: Brexit has seriously damaged the British economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has indicated that the British must accept the compromises required to maintain a close relationship with the European Union, writes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/uk-pm-keir-starmer-brexit-significantly-hurt-british-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking in London, Starmer said that Brexit has caused significant damage to the British economy and warned that friction with the bloc must be reduced in order to achieve economic recovery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Starmer\u2019s remarks follow talks between London and Brussels, which have been in doubt about allowing Britain to participate in the EU\u2019s 150 billion European arms purchase program, and the main source of disagreement in the negotiations has been the opinion on how much the British should pay to participate in the program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a speech on the 1st of December, the British Prime Minister defended the national budget adopted in late November and insisted that he has a long-term plan. Starmer said<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">the most important thing the British can do now for growth and business is to reduce inflation<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">and maintain a confident market that would allow economic stability to be restored. However, Britain also needs to face the truth \u2013 the post-Brexit agreement with Brussels has significantly damaged the country\u2019s economy. \u201cFor economic renewal we have to keep reducing frictions.
