London tower builders have put plans by JP MorganChase to build a new headquarters at Canary Wharf on their radar after they were unveiled last week.<\/p>\n

Much of the building work at the Docklands estate has been carried out by Canary Wharf Contractors over the years.<\/p>\n

But Building understands that firms best known for their high-rise schemes in the City, such as Mace, Multiplex and Bovis, are expecting to hear about the US bank\u2019s proposals first hand in the coming months.<\/p>\n

No price has been put on the job but JP Morgan said the Foster & Partners-designed scheme will run across three million sq ft and be home to 12,000 employees.<\/p>\n

One source said: \u201cThere\u2019s not many firms you\u2019d trust with that kind of high-rise.\u201d Another added: \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s a Canary Wharf Contractors job. It\u2019s more complex than they would normally look at.\u201d<\/p>\n

JP Morgan declined to comment on its procurement plans, although Canary Wharf Group is working as co-developer on the project.<\/p>\n

Last week<\/a>, the bank said the tower will be sited at Canary Wharf\u2019s Riverside development and will add \u00a310bn to the UK economy.<\/p>\n
