Tottenham, Antoine Semenyo transfer update emerges

Tottenham are stepping up their pursuit of Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo ahead of the January window, with any potential transfer netting Bristol City up to £11m.

The Ghana international has been a standout performer for the Cherries since the appointment of Andoni Iraola, and he scored 11 times last season as they flourished under the Spaniard.

This season, Semenyo has taken his game to another level, having found the net six times and registered three assists in just 12 Premier League outings.

        <img width="1650" height="928" loading="lazy" decoding="async" alt="Antoine Semenyo for Bournemouth" seal £65m deal

Unsurprisingly, such form hasn’t gone unnoticed, and it has been claimed that a host of top-flight clubs are monitoring Semenyo’s situation, with the Athletic stating he has a release clause of £65m in his contract.

In a fresh development, Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has revealed that Spurs are ‘intensifying their interest’ in the player, as they look to steal a march on their rivals by finalising a deal swiftly.

However, there’s no guarantee that Semenyo will end up in north London, as the update also confirms that Man City and Liverpool continue to track the 25-year-old.

Semenyo’s immediate concern will be helping Bournemouth as they look to force their way back up the table, whilst he will link up with Ghana for AFCON later this month.

Bristol City would love Antoine Semenyo windfall to arrive in January

Whilst Bournemouth look set to make a substantial profit on the £10.5m they paid for Semenyo if, or when, he does move on, this potential transfer will also be on the radar of Bristol City.

That’s because the Robins inserted a 20% sell-on clause as part of the agreement that took the attacker to the Vitality Stadium.

So, providing Semenyo’s release clause is met, they will be entitled to a fifth of the £55m profit that the Cherries would make, which works out at around £11m for the Championship side.

Clearly, that is a significant sum for any second tier outfit, and it will impact what Bristol City can do in the market, whether Semenyo leaves in January, the summer or further down the line.

But, you can be sure that Gerhard Struber is hoping that a sale is agreed next month, as that cash could help him and the recruitment team ahead of what the Robins hope is a productive window.

A positive campaign so far means Bristol City are firmly in the mix for the play-offs, but fans will be hoping that they are in the market for a few reinforcements to help the squad as they look to record another top six finish, and then go one better by sealing promotion to the Premier League.

Obviously, £11m from Semenyo would be very welcome, and it could help Bristol City attract some real quality, so they will be keeping an eye on any movements when the window does open.

Tottenham are stepping up their pursuit of Bournemouth’s
