{"id":608404,"date":"2025-12-02T23:51:20","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T23:51:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/608404\/"},"modified":"2025-12-02T23:51:20","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T23:51:20","slug":"no-compromise-on-territory-after-ukraine-talks-with-us-russian-official-russia-ukraine-war-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/608404\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018No compromise\u2019 on territory after Ukraine talks with US: Russian official | Russia-Ukraine war News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Russian official has said that \u201cno compromise\u201d has been reached on the crucial issue of territory in Ukraine, following talks between senior United States officials and President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner met Putin in the Russian capital on Tuesday, as the United States seeks to broker an end to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/tag\/ukraine-russia-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deadliest war<\/a> in Europe since the Second World War.<\/p>\n<p>Recommended Stories list of 3 itemsend of list<\/p>\n<p>The discussions lasted almost five hours and ended after midnight.\u00a0\u201cSo far we haven\u2019t found a compromise, but some American solutions can be discussed,\u201d said top Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, who attended the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Although Ushakov described the conversation as \u201cvery useful and constructive\u201d, he stressed that \u201ca lot of work lies ahead both in Washington and in Moscow\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The US delegation had travelled to the Russian capital to discuss a peace plan which Washington has updated since its earlier leaked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/11\/21\/trumps-28-point-ukraine-plan-in-full-what-it-means-could-it-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">28-point draft<\/a> was strongly criticised by Ukraine and its allies for favouring Russia.<\/p>\n<p>The Kremlin has condemned Kyiv and Europe\u2019s subsequent counter-proposal, with Putin repeatedly saying that it is \u201cunacceptable\u201d to his country.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of his meeting with the senior US officials, the Russian leader delivered bellicose remarks at an investment forum, where he claimed his nation was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/liveblog\/2025\/12\/2\/russia-ukraine-war-live-trumps-envoy-witkoff-to-meet-putin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ready to fight against Europe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are on the side of war,\u201d Putin claimed, referring to Ukraine\u2019s allies in Europe. \u201cWe can clearly see that all these changes are aimed at only one thing: to block the entire peace process altogether, to make such demands which are absolutely unacceptable to Russia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 73-year-old also said Russia would increase attacks on Ukrainian ports and vessels, and tankers that support Kyiv, following the targeting of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/12\/2\/russian-tanker-struck-off-turkiye-as-ukraine-targets-shadow-fleet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ships carrying Russian oil<\/a> off the coast of Turkiye.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-arc-image-770 wp-image-4146942\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/afp_692f74d7aa9b-1764717783.jpg\" alt=\"In this pool photograph distributed by the Russian state agency Sputnik, Russia's President Vladimir Putin, accompanied by Kremlin economic envoy Kirill Dmitriev and Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, meets with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner at the Kremlin in Moscow on December 2, 2025. Today, he threatens sea ports and freedom of navigation,\u201d Sybiha wrote on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, on a visit to Ireland, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a \u201cdignified peace\u201d was needed.<\/p>\n<p>When asked at an event in Dublin about whether he feared the US could lose interest in the peace process, he said he feared one of Kyiv\u2019s getting \u201ctired\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the goal of Russia to withdraw the interest of America from this situation,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, US President Donald Trump admitted that the negotiations were difficult.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur people are over in Russia right now to see if we can get it settled,\u201d Trump said at a cabinet meeting in Washington. \u201cNot an easy situation. What a mess,\u201d he added, noting that the war was causing tens of thousands of casualties each month.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s close allies Witkoff and Kushner could meet a Ukrainian delegation as early as Wednesday, potentially in Brussels, a senior figure in Kyiv told the AFP news agency.<\/p>\n<p>The flurry of diplomatic activity came as Russia claimed that it had seized Pokrovsk, a city of \u201cspecial significance\u201d in Ukraine\u2019s Donbas.<\/p>\n<p>Kyiv has denied the development, saying that Moscow wants to project the impression that Russia\u2019s advance is inevitable.<\/p>\n<p>Putin suggested on Tuesday that \u201cfrom this base, from this sector, the Russian army can easily advance in any direction that the General Staff deems most promising\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Moscow\u2019s forces currently control more than 19 percent of Ukraine, up one percentage point from last year.
