is set to open inside a former office block.<\/p>\n<p>The vacant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/edinburgh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edinburgh<\/a> Capital House off Premier Inn, bought the empty offices last year.<\/p>\n<p>A proposal for the huge conversion was sent to the City of Edinburgh Council.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/planning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Planning<\/a> chiefs have now given them the go-ahead to completely overhaul the 1980\u2019s building into a plush 65,350 square feet hotel.<\/p>\n<p>The new Premier Inn will have a ground floor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/restaurant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">restaurant<\/a> and bar and is set to become their fourth hotel in Edinburgh city centre.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"article-readmore__text-anchor-wrap\" new city centre Premier Inn will be a great spot for guests and is near some of the capital\u2019s most popular tourist spots.<\/p>\n<p>Jill Anderson, Acquisitions Manager for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/scotland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scotland<\/a> at Whitbread, said: \u201cWe are fortunate to have an established network of 14 trading Premier Inn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/hotels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hotels<\/a> in Edinburgh which welcome a million visitors a year and drive \u00a332 million in annual external spending in the city.<\/p>\n<p id=\"amp-readmore-target\">\u201cThe strong year-round demand we are continuing to experience for our rooms in the city is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/driving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">driving<\/a> the expansion of Premier Inn across Edinburgh, including at Capital House in the heart of the city centre. <\/p>\n<p id=\"amp-readmore-target\">\u201cIt is a sensational location for a budget hotel given its proximity to iconic tourist destinations like Edinburgh Castle, a host of theatres and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/concert\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">concert<\/a> venues, the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) and the Exchange District.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting the green light to convert the 1980\u2019s office into a latest format Premier Inn is a huge achievement for the team and we will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/waste\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">waste<\/a> no time in breathing fresh life into the empty building and adding another high-quality location for our customers in Scotland.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They also reckon the new hotel will bring over \u00a38m to the city.<\/p>\n<p>A Premier Inn spokesperson added: \u201cThe new Premier Inn is anticipated to generate an additional \u00a38.1 million per year in visitor expenditure through the external spending of more than 56,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/topic\/business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">business<\/a> and leisure guests which are predicted to stay at the hotel every year once it reaches maturity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhitbread believes half of this external year-round expenditure is anticipated to be spent supporting city centre businesses based on a comprehensive nationwide study of its
