Kenny Cameron receives his lifetime achievement award from Energy Action Scotland chief executive Frazer Scott<\/p>\n
A leading energy campaigner has been given an industry lifetime achievement award for his efforts to tackle fuel poverty.<\/p>\n
Kenny Cameron, managing director of Edinburgh-based Connected Response, was presented with an award by Energy Action Scotland in recognition of a lifetime of trying to make people\u2019s homes warmer and more affordable.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Fuel poverty is officially defined as a household spending more than 10% of its income on energy, after housing costs have been deducted. The cost of living crisis and spiralling energy prices have resulted in a 38% increase in households living in fuel poverty since 2019. It is estimated that nearly one-third of all households in Scotland are living in fuel poverty.<\/p>\n
Each year, Energy Action Scotland honours organisations and individuals going above and beyond to ensure their communities stay warm and safe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Connected Response provides innovative technology solutions for households with electric heating finding it difficult to heat their homes effectively and affordably.<\/p>\n
Energy Action Scotland said: \u201cKenny has made an enormous contribution to the lives of people with electric heating, people with an incredibly high likelihood of being in fuel poverty. He is a champion for technology and innovation to help deal with problems caused by poorly installed, configured heating systems in homes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has had a long and distinguished career in the energy sector, this award isn\u2019t to mark the end of anything, just Kenny\u2019s achievements to date. His pioneering approach to providing solutions, partnering with housing bodies to ensure that people can live more affordably and comfortably. It is an honour for us to be able to recognise his long standing commitment and achievements in tackling fuel poverty.\u201d<\/p>\n
