Jenni Hermoso was visibly emotional after completing a fairytale comeback with Spain, who beat Germany 3-0 on Tuesday night to win the Women\u2019s Nations League.<\/p>\n
It has been a turbulent two years for Hermoso within the national setup since Spain lifted the Women\u2019s World Cup in 2023.<\/p>\n
Spain\u2019s all-time leading scorer was caught up in the Luis Rubiales scandal after the former president of the Spanish Football Federation kissed her after the World Cup final.<\/p>\n
Hermoso was then sidelined under previous Spain head coach Montse Tome, before she was recalled following the appointment of Sonia Bermudez.<\/p>\n
Spain win the Women\u2019s Nations League<\/p>\n
Jenni Hermoso was a late substitute for Spain as they beat Germany 3-0 in the second leg of their Nations League final.<\/p>\n

I am not going to lie to you. It has been many months of work.<\/p>\n \u201cSometimes everything has its reward. I\u2019m tremendously happy because with this group, this team, I can continue doing what I like.\u201d<\/p>\n In another interview, she said: \u201cMy happy face says it all. The happiness of returning, being in my city, because every time I talk about Madrid my eyes get teary.\u201d<\/p>\n She added that she was \u201cvery proud\u201d to wear the Spain shirt and that the win showed they are the \u201cbest team in the world\u201d.<\/p>\n Hermoso returns after two turbulent years with Spain<\/p>\n Hermoso is one of Spain\u2019s all-time greatest player but has endured a difficult two years with the national team.<\/p>\n Rubiales kissed Hermoso on the lips after Spain\u2019s 2023 World Cup final victory. The Spain star insisted she did not give consent for the kiss, but Rubiales has continued to pledge his innocence and said he won\u2019t apologise to Hermoso.<\/a><\/p>\n Rubiales though was fined\u00a010,000 euros (\u00a38,834) as Spain\u2019s High Court found him guilty of sexual assault. He was acquitted of coercion for allegedly trying to pressure Hermoso into saying the kiss was consensual in public.<\/p>\n The former Spanish Football Federation president was recently egged by his uncle<\/a> at his own book launch.<\/p>\n Hermoso was later absent from the Spain team for one year after she was left out of the squad by Tome.<\/p>\n The Spain star\u00a0hit out at Tome<\/a> after the former head coach said she had a \u2018clear conscience\u2019 regards to her selection for the Euro<\/a> 2025 squad, which Hermoso was left out of.<\/p>\n However, Hermoso returned to the Spain squad in October after the appointment of Bermudez.<\/p>\n
