{"id":609522,"date":"2025-12-03T12:37:20","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T12:37:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/609522\/"},"modified":"2025-12-03T12:37:20","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T12:37:20","slug":"iconic-west-end-street-sicilian-avenue-is-finally-reopening-this-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/609522\/","title":{"rendered":"Iconic West End Street Sicilian Avenue Is Finally Reopening This Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There\u2019s finally been an opening date set for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/news\/iconic-west-end-street-sicilian-avenue-is-finally-reopening-this-summer-030625\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grand re-opening of Sicilian Avenue<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0street might sound rather Mediterranean, but its\u00a0true location is less White Lotus, and more Slow Horses, because it\u2019s right next to Holborn station.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Grade II-listed pedestrianised street,\u00a0which runs diagonally between Southampton Row and Bloomsbury Way, has been\u00a0getting a lot of work done. And we mean a lot \u2013\u00a0the marble\u00a0thoroughfare\u00a0has been closed for the past five years as developers Tristan Capital Partners have performed a \u2018complete restoration\u2019 of the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The avenue is named after its luxurious architectural style, which feels almost European. Built in 1906, it\u2019s home to several turrets, golden building names, and Grade II-listed buildings, and is also a pretty convenient shortcut. It opened back up last year for pedestrians, but its buildings have remained uninhabited.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"644abb53-f289-66fc-6552-0deef44f05fb\" class=\"photo lazy inline\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"lazy-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1764765440_894_image.webp.webp\" alt=\"The restored Sicilian Avenue in London\" data-caption=\"\" data-credit=\"Photograph: Sicilian Avenue London\" data-width-class=\"\" data-image-id=\"106350047\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\nPhotograph: Sicilian Avenue London&#13;<\/p>\n<p>But the passage\u00a0is going to\u00a0be repopulated any day now, and Sicilian Avenue has just revealed its first line-up of businesses that are going to occupy the street.\u00a0Trendy coffee joint\u00a0<strong>Flying Horse Coffee<\/strong>\u00a0has\u00a0opened its doors\u00a0at\u00a01 Sicilian Avenue (opposite the red telephone box) this December. This is Flying Horse\u2019s fourth London outpost and first location in the city centre.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0roastery\u00a0will be joined by\u00a0<strong>Backworks<\/strong> in the spring. The drop-in massage\u00a0studio\u00a0will offer\u00a0fully-clothed seated\u00a0back, head, neck and shoulder massages, with sessions starting from 15 to 45 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, <strong>Matchado<\/strong> will open a caf\u00e9 offering\u00a0Japanese tea experiences, sweet baked treats\u00a0and\u00a0quality matcha and hojicha hand-sourced from Japan. Matchado\u2019s opening date is yet to be revealed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Philip Way, founder of Flying Horse Coffee, said: \u2018It\u2019s our most beautiful setting yet to open in. We\u2019ve really taken our time to respect its heritage down to details like matching the colour of our coffee machine with the Grade II-listed oriel window frames.
