Huge redevelopments taking place at many of the\u00a0UK\u2019s major airports, from Gatwick\u2019s second runway<\/a>\u00a0and Heathrow\u2019s plans for millions more passengers<\/a> to improvements at Birmingham<\/a>. Next up to receive a mega facelift is Bristol<\/a>\u00a0Airport, which is set to undergo a\u00a0massive \u00a360 million makeover.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bristol Airport has started works on the \u00a360m overhaul of its terminal, which is part of a wider \u00a3400 million plan. The\u00a0project involves creating more space and almost doubling the number of shops and restaurants. Seventeen new units will be built, housing shops \u2013 including premium brands \u2013 and places to eat (which already includes a bigger and better M&S).\u00a0<\/p>\n

But most exciting of all is that the airport plans to\u00a0open a new a hidden speakeasy bar, where you can\u00a0complete the ritual of a pre-holiday pint, no matter the time of day.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bristol\u00a0is also improving accessibility, with the\u00a0assisted travel lounge doubling\u00a0in size and including tables, so that customers are able to sit, eat and work comfortably. New and improved accessible toilets will be installed, as well as a baby feeding room and more washrooms.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kate Gwyther, head of retail at Bristol Airport, said: \u2018We\u2019re excited about what\u2019s coming. The new departure lounge will be bright and spacious where customers can relax, explore a variety of new shops, and enjoy a wider range of dining options to suit every schedule, taste and budget. It\u2019s all designed to make the holiday feel like it starts the moment passengers arrive.\u2019<\/p>\n

Work is expected to take around three years to complete. Once it\u00a0is finished\u00a0Bristol Airport\u00a0hopes to welcome 12 million more passengers a year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
