An MSP suspended over a sexual harassment complaint is facing an exit from Holyrood at next year’s election. Foysol Choudhury, a List MSP for the Lothians, had been selected as the Labour candidate for the Edinburgh Northern seat earlier this year.<\/a><\/p>\n He was later suspended over an allegation of inappropriate conduct and sits as an independent MSP. The Record then revealed the complaint was by a staffer at Holyrood an includes an allegation of sexual harassment<\/a>.<\/p>\n Labour have today reopened the selection process and they have backed an all-women shortlist. Suspended members are also ineligible to contest selection contests<\/a>. Choudhury could contest the election as an independent.<\/p>\n Internal party rules also state that only constituency candidates can stand for the regional lists at Holyrood. Female members who wish to be considered as a candidate for the Edinburgh seat have to apply by noon on December 9th.<\/p>\n A Labour Party spokesperson said: \u201cAll selections are carried out in line with rules and procedures agreed and overseen by Scottish Labour\u2019s Executive Committee. On Choudhury, the spokesperson said: “The Labour Party takes all complaints seriously.
