Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh<\/a>, joined the British royal family at Windsor Castle on Wednesday evening for a state banquet honoring German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke B\u00fcdenbender. The Duchess leaned into a classic look for the event, pairing her favorite tiara with a slender black gown. Sophie has worn the Aquamarine Tiara many, many times over the years<\/a>, most recently at the French state banquet in July.<\/p>\n

The Duchess of Edinburgh also wore her yellow ribbon with the Royal Family Order of King Charles III<\/a>, which she received in July ahead of the French state visit. Royal Orders are traditionally given to senior women of the royal family in recognition of their service to the monarch.<\/p>\n

Sophie went with a white gown and the same tiara during the summer.<\/p>\n

State banquets often bring out a parade of flowing gowns and glittering tiaras from the royals. Also in attendance at Windsor this evening included Queen Camilla in the Girls of Great Britain and Northern Ireland tiara, the Princess of Wales and the Orient Circlet tiara<\/a>, Princess Anne with the Aquamarine Pineflower tiara, and the Duchess of Gloucester in Queen Mary\u2019s Honeysuckle tiara.<\/p>\n

The event marked a notable return for Sophie as both she and Prince Edward missed the last state banquet<\/a> in September held on behalf of U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The couple were already in transit to Japan to represent King Charles on an official visit to Tokyo<\/a> and Osaka<\/a>.<\/p>\n
