The doctor spent more than 1,300 days incarcerated while repeatedly denied bail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAzmi will portray Pammi Bothra, the resilient matriarch who became the pillar of strength for her family throughout their ordeal. Veteran actor <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/kabir-bedi\/\" id=\"auto-tag_kabir-bedi\" data-tag=\"kabir-bedi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kabir Bedi<\/a> stars as Dr. Raj Bothra, with Emily Shah joining the cast as Sonia Bothra, playing the physician\u2019s daughter who stood by him during the legal battle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPrincipal photography has commenced in London on the feature, which is being directed by award-winning cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPrashant Shah of Bollywood Hollywood Productions is producing through his partnership with London\u2019s Twickenham Productions. Post-production will be at <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/twickenham-studios\/\" id=\"auto-tag_twickenham-studios\" data-tag=\"twickenham-studios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twickenham Studios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe project adapts the book \u201cUSA v\/s Raj,\u201d written by Dr. Bothra with co-author Jennifer DeBellis and presented at this year\u2019s Toronto Film Festival by \u201cSholay\u201d director Ramesh Sippy and \u201cFire\u201d filmmaker Deepa Mehta.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty (\u201cSlumdog Millionaire\u201d) heads the technical team, while the script comes from writers Zill-e-Huma, Shubho Deep Pal, Hussain Dalal and Abbas Dalal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDr. Bothra, who received India\u2019s Padma Shri honor for his humanitarian efforts, previously collaborated with Mother Teresa and advised Pope John Paul II on global health issues.
