Yukon Wildlife Cams on Wednesday shared footage of a black bear scent-marking a tree with a back scratch, only to have a grizzly bear claim the tree the same way five days later.<\/p>\n

The footage<\/a> reveals a behavior intended to leave scent for other bears, or simply to satisfy an itch.<\/p>\n

Back scratches are impressive because they reveal a bear\u2019s true size, and Yukon Wildlife Cam\u2019s footage is reminiscent of perhaps its most striking scent-marking footage to date, captured in August 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The footage shows an enormous grizzly bear enjoying a scratch before charging ferociously toward the camera in slow motion, head lurching and massive claws on display.<\/p>\n

It also provides a sense of what an attacking grizzly bear might look like, and inspired one of the top comments: \u201cCan you imagine standing where the trail camera is?\u201d<\/p>\n
