Prince Harry<\/a> joked about Donald Trump<\/a> during an unexpected appearance on Stephen Colbert\u2019s US talk show.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday (3 December), the Duke of Sussex<\/a> made a surprise cameo in a comedy sketch on The Late Show in which he played a version of himself auditioning to play a \u201cChristmas prince\u201d in a Hallmark<\/a> movie.<\/p>\n

In the segment, Harry, lampooning the US\u2019s \u201cobsession\u201d with royalty<\/a>, quipped that the country had \u201celected a king\u201d, in reference to the president, which prompted a chorus of pantomime books from the audience.<\/p>\n

The joke appeared to be a reference to the non-violent \u201cNo Kings\u201d movement, protesting Trump\u2019s \u201cauthoritarian\u201d policies.<\/p>\n

Harry then referenced The Late Show network CBS\u2019s settlement with Trump over a lawsuit that claimed the network edited a 60 Minutes news interview with his presidential rival Kamala Harris in an attempt to \u201ctip the scales\u201d in her favour during the election.<\/p>\n

Joking that he would \u201cdo anything\u201d to get a part in the fictional Hallmark movie, Harry said: \u201cI\u2019ll record a self-tape, I\u2019ll fly myself to an audition, settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House \u2014 all the things you people in TV do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Colbert hit back: \u201cHey, I didn\u2019t do any of those things,\u201d to which Harry replied: \u201cMaybe that\u2019s why you\u2019re cancelled.\u201d <\/p>\n

Colbert\u2019s show is ending<\/a> in May 2025 after being cancelled in what CBS called \u201ca financial decision\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the pantomime-inspired sketch, Harry ultimately won the role of the Christmas prince.<\/p>\n

Hours before the episode aired, the pair first teased the guest spot in a video that saw them lip-sync over an Alison Hammond soundbite from The Great British Bake Off.<\/p>\n

The post was also shared by the Duchess of Sussex, who previewed the clip on her Instagram story.<\/p>\n

Colbert\u2019s other guests were Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon<\/a> and Irish actor and singer Jessie Buckley, who can next be seen opposite Paul Mescal in Chlo\u00e9 Zhao\u2019s Hamnet.<\/p>\n

Wednesday\u2019s visit was the duke\u2019s second Late Show appearance, having last appeared in January 2023 to promote his memoir Spare.<\/p>\n
