<\/a>What happens now is unclear, Trump admits after Moscow talks fail to produce results<\/p>\n

The path ahead for Ukraine peace talks is unclear, Donald Trump said on Wednesday, after what he called “reasonably good” talks between Putin and US envoys.<\/p>\n

Trump, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday, shared that his delegation to Russia reported back that Putin appeared to want to make a deal, while sticking points remain.<\/p>\n

What happens now is unclear, Trump said.<\/p>\n

“What comes out of that meeting I can’t tell you because it does take two to tango,” Trump said, without elaborating. He added: “We have something pretty well worked out (with Ukraine)”.<\/p>\n

A White House official said Witkoff and Kushner would meet with Ukrainian officials in Miami on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Kremlin said on Wednesday that Putin accepted some US proposals aimed at ending the war in Ukraine and was prepared to keep working to find a compromise. It denied having rejected the US proposals to end the war.<\/p>\n

President Vladimir Putin said in an interview published on Thursday that Russia would take full control of Ukraine’s Donbas region by force unless Ukrainian forces withdraw.<\/p>\n

“Either we liberate these territories by force of arms, or Ukrainian troops leave these territories,” Putin told India Today ahead of a visit to New Delhi, according to a clip shown on Russian state television.<\/p>\n

Ukraine says it does not want to gift Russia its own territory that Moscow has failed to win on the battlefield.<\/p>\n

Vladimir Putin has said that talks on Ukraine with Donald Trump\u2019s special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner were \u201cvery useful\u201d but failed to yield a breakthrough. <\/p>\n

Speaking to India Today, Putin said: “I think it is too early to say, but this meeting was necessary.”<\/p>\n

He went on: “We had to go over every point, which is why it took so on… So it was a necessary conversation, a very concrete one… Somewhere we said, yes, we can discuss this, but we can’t agree on that. That’s precisely the tone of the conversation.”<\/p>\n
