{"id":611966,"date":"2025-12-04T16:10:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T16:10:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/611966\/"},"modified":"2025-12-04T16:10:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T16:10:12","slug":"joanne-robertsons-album-named-among-best-of-2025-in-prestigious-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/611966\/","title":{"rendered":"Joanne Robertson&#8217;s album named among best of 2025 in prestigious list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The musician&#8217;s experimental folk sound in her sixth studio album, Blurrr, has made it to the top 10 of the American online music magazine Pitchfork\u2019s 50 Best Albums of 2025.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Robertson moved to Glasgow in 2018, after having lived in London, and has since taken the UK\u2019s underground music scene by storm.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Reviewing Blurrr earlier this year, Pitchfork\u2019s Emma Madden hailed the album as Robertson\u2019s \u201cundisputed masterpiece,\u201d adding that the musician\u2019s sound had reached a \u201cstratosphere where the soul can stretch its legs and roam more freely\u201d.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ MORE:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25673022.scottish-musician-jacob-alon-shortlisted-prestigious-award\/?ref=ed_recent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scottish musician Jacob Alon shortlisted for prestigious award<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Naming Blurrr as number eight in their top 50 list, Pitchfork described Roberton\u2019s playing as \u201cmore eraser marks than pencil stroke\u201d and that she \u201csweeps away the lines between voice and fingers.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The musician and painter joined the likes of the Bolivian-American duo\u2019s Los Thuthanaka self-titled debut album, which was hailed by reviewers as \u201cahead of its time\u201d and Bad Bunny\u2019s DeB\u00cd TiRAR M\u00e1S FOToS, whose single DtMF reached 2 in the UK\u2019s indie charts.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Pitchfork\u2019s review for Blurrr\u2019s inclusion in the list read: \u201cJoanne Robertson\u2019s gossamer, improvisatory folk is more eraser marks than pencil strokes. Even the \u2018r\u2019 in Blurrr is smudged.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cOn her sixth album, the Glaswegian singer-songwriter and painter sweeps away the lines between voice and fingers, fingers and guitar, guitar and the thrum of Oliver Coates\u2019 cello.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cHer lyrics, riddled with em-dashes and elisions, seem to map her spontaneous neural firing.
