A gun has been found by children in a Birmingham park.<\/p>\n
The concerning find was made by school-age kids at the Princess Alice Park in New Oscott, Sutton Coldfield, close to the busy retail park of the same name, on Monday (April 28) between 6.30pm and 7pm.<\/p>\n
They spotted a rucksack in the park near a path, opened it up, and discovered the weapon.<\/p>\n
Police were called to the scene, and officers were spotted guarding the weapon.<\/p>\n
Read more: Moment man ‘caught on film’ after paint thrown on house and cars<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n A dad whose 10-year-old son regularly plays football in the park said he was told about the incident by a neighbour, and went to look for himself.<\/p>\n The dad, who lives nearby, but asked not to be named, said: \u201cA gun was found in a rucksack in Princess Alice Park close to the car park by Bannatyne\u2019s.<\/p>\n \u201cTwo kids found the bag in a bush and then found a gun in it.<\/p>\n \u201cI was told and went to have a look and saw the gun on the floor. I wanted to make sure it was true.<\/p>\n \u201cTwo police officers were standing next to it. It was a handgun in a clear sandwich bag in a black rucksack.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s scary for the kids to find it.
