A performance of Young Frankenstein The Musical at the Liverpool Playhouse was briefly halted this evening after a cast member was injured. The show was stopped during the second half when Julie Yammanee, who plays Inga, suffered an injury. She was later replaced, and the scene was restarted once the production team confirmed they were able to continue.<\/p>\n
Addressing the audience, a member of the production team<\/a> said: “We’re going to do a brief show stop. One of the cast has managed to injure themselves. The show will hopefully resume in a few minutes or so.<\/p>\n “Until then, please just wait here and entertain yourselves, I guess,” which was met with a ripple of laughter from the crowd.<\/p>\n Once the cast member had been replaced, the performance continued without a problem. All the actors received a standing ovation from the audience at the show’s end.<\/p>\n The musical stars Coronation Street actor Daniel Brocklebank<\/a> in the lead role of Dr Frederick Frankenstein. Speaking to the ECHO<\/a> ahead of opening night, Daniel said he was excited to return to the stage and to perform for a Liverpool audience, showcasing a very different side to his talents away from his long-running role as vicar Billy Mayhew.<\/p>\n With a background in theatre and early work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Daniel said he was looking forward to the high-energy singing and dancing that Young Frankenstein demands – skills he joked he has “kept hidden” for years.<\/p>\n Teasing what audiences can expect, he added: \u201cThe soundtrack is fantastic. It\u2019s fun. The music is brilliant. The script is hilarious. I think Liverpool is in for an absolute treat over Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n He said he was keen to take on a role that contrasted with his character on Coronation Street: “After Corrie, I wanted to do something people wouldn\u2019t expect.<\/p>\n “People might have thought I\u2019d go into panto or reality TV, but I wanted something different.<\/p>\n “If people come and see it in Liverpool, I want them to think, ‘Oh my God, he\u2019s nothing like Billy.'”<\/p>\n Daniel wrapped up filming in Weatherfield and joined rehearsals the very same day.
