{"id":613105,"date":"2025-12-05T04:44:54","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T04:44:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/613105\/"},"modified":"2025-12-05T04:44:54","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T04:44:54","slug":"not-acceptable-loganair-to-meet-with-menzies-after-edinburgh-complaint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/613105\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Not acceptable\u2019 \u2013 Loganair to meet with Menzies after Edinburgh complaint"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>LOGANAIR will meet with handling agents Menzies after a high-profile incident which led to complaints from travellers in October.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Passengers were left stranded at Edinburgh airport after their flight was unable to land at either Kirkwall or Sumburgh due to high winds.<\/p>\n<p>The airline apologised to passengers after they complained about what was described as \u201cunprofessional and rude\u201d behaviour from Menzies staff at the airport.<\/p>\n<p>One customer said they had to organise their own onward travel and accommodation in Aberdeen after being left in Edinburgh with \u201cno clear information, no food, and no support\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Loganair chief operating officer Natalie Bush said the response was \u201cnot deemed appropriate\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She added there had been \u201cmore disruptive events since which were managed in a much more proactive way\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>West Mainland councillor Liz Peterson said the incident was \u201cjust not acceptable\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople in Shetland are worried what happens if they have to return to Edinburgh and are left with Menzies staff on the ground,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Loganair\u2019s new COO Natalie Bush.<\/p>\n<p>Peterson asked Bush \u201chow can you reassure us this type of thing won\u2019t be happening again\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Loganair executive said they had no option but to work with handling agents in larger airports such as Edinburgh and Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p>But she added the airline also had \u201cdisruption specialists\u201d available 24 hours to deal with incidents like the one in question.<\/p>\n<p>Bush said she was \u201cnot going to say we\u2019re always going to get it perfectly right\u201d, adding that there were often \u201cfast moving situations\u201d where lots of people returned to one airport at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes it takes longer to get hotels,\u201d she told Tuesday\u2019s external transport forum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll be meeting with Menzies in the next week or so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Loganair said in October they were working with Menzies to understand what went wrong on the evening in question, and to ensure that it will not happen again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shetland News<\/strong> is asking its readers to consider paying for membership to get additional perks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Removal of third-party ads;<\/li>\n<li>Bookmark posts to read later;<\/li>\n<li>Exclusive curated weekly newsletter;<\/li>\n<li>Hide membership messages;<\/li>\n<li>Comments open for discussion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you appreciate what we do and feel strongly about impartial local journalism, then please become a member of <strong>Shetland News<\/strong> by either making a single payment, or setting up a monthly, quarterly or yearly subscription.<\/p>\n<p class=\"row-text sign-in-message\">Already a member?
